Simple really. If you want to mix sounds, get a mixer. The cheapest
Maplin one has only 2 stereo inputs, but that may be all you want.
(CB87U). There are Maplin shops in most big towns now.

>From there you can go up through the price ranges with more and more
channels and controls. Some are aimed mainly at DJs, others are for
recording or multimedia.

Tandy used to be the best source for this kind of gear, but they have
been closed down.

If you have any good second-hand shops near you (for instance the Cash
Converter franchise chain), that is a good place to look. Or a shop
that sells music and DJ gear.

Don't try to do the mixing in software - there is no advantage and it
will use up a lot of CPU cycles.
